In April, we had two teams here at Promise Home. The first team that arrived was the Family Bible Church from Highland, Illinois. They were joined by Kevin Perry from the Heights Church in Richardson, Texas. This team was led by Mike Sapinza. Since Mike is an electrician by trade, the team focused on several major electrical projects.
They installed all of the underground wiring for all five of the buildings for the Children’s Village.
They also wired the main power distribution panel located at our new guard house.
Since they were so fast, they also did most of the rough out wiring for our new school/ administrative building.
On Sunday they installed a pila for a family that lived in a clay brick house on the side of the road. This is always the most rewarding part of a trip.
The second team that was led by Jim Murphy was the Koke Mill Christian Church from Springfield, Illinois.
This team did a great job of completing items on our punch list of projects for the four buildings we have under construction in the Children’s Village.
They completed the rough out electrical for the new school/administrative building and the guard house. They also installed vents for the plumbing and got in some painting in our tilapia fish area.
Jim’s team, which holds the record of seven pilas installed in one day, installed four pilas on this trip.
Pilas are such a great ministry tool. While our team is installing the pila, we have a chance to minister and pray with the family.
Many of the homes are still washing their clothes and dishes in the creek.
This family has sixteen children living in their house. They were still doing their dishes and laundry in the creek. We had a great time ministering to this family while we installed their pila.
Thanks again to the teams that come here and work on our buildings and minister to our friends in the villages.
