Dateline: March 20, 2016

March has been an exciting month.  God has provided us with our first two children.

The first child we received was Kensy.

Kensey is six months old.  Her mother had abandoned her.

Our second child was David.

David was seven days old and came straight from the hospital to Promise Home.  His mother did not want him.  Our two tias, Maritea and Sonora, were so excited to have two babies to care for. It is really thrilling to look at these two babies and think about the impact they will have on all of us, and the impact that Promise Home will have on their lives.

Since David came straight from the Hospital, we took him to the clinic for his first check-up.

The doctor determined that he has an acid reflux problem.  So David is on a special milk diet.

In addition to receiving two babies in March, we had a twenty-seven member Youth Team from the Heights Church in Richardson Texas visit us.

They painted the new Director’s house and the front gate.

They poured the side walk from the casita to the cafeteria and from the casita to the parking lot.

In addition to construction, the team had a lot of ministry projects. On Sunday, they had a VBS program for the children in our church,  and in the afternoon, they handed out 30 packs of beans and rice to poor families in our community. This gave the team an opportunity to invite the families to our church and an opportunity to witness and pray for the families.

On Monday and Tuesday, they had an After School program that fed the school children in El Portillo and Aquagate (about 150 children) lunch and then they had a VBS program with the children.

Many of the young ladies in our team assisted with the cooking of the meals.  It was an adventure making 300 corn tortillas from scratch.

Wednesday morning, they installed three pilas.  This is always an important part of a ministry team.  While the team is installing the pila, we get a chance to minister to the families.

We also had one of our Board members, Kirk Andrews, and his daughter Jackie visit Promise Home.  Jackie and her mother Lori ran a clothing drive for our children and collected over 2,000 pieces of clothes for our children.  Kirk and Jackie brought clothes for our two babies.

God has really blessed us this month by providing Kensy and David.  Please continue to pray for our new Children’s Division staff as they take on the responsibility of providing the care for our babies and other children that will follow.

Thanks,

Bill Hayden
