Dateline January 22, 2019

We started 2019 with a lot of expectation for a very busy year.  We now have fifteen children in our care.  Most of our children came to Promise Home as babies and are now three years old.  Everyone knows that three year old children want to do everything to help. So, we decided to build a large garden and a house with laying hens.   We want to teach our children how to be self-sufficient.

The first team arrived on January 2nd to build a fence around the garden area and a storage building for our tools and equipment.  The team was from Kentucky and led by Jonathan Ayers.

The team also installed the gutter and completed the wiring for the second casita.  When the second casita is complete we will be able to care for another thirty two children.

In the second week of January we had our second team from Kentucky led by Daniel Alvis. The guys worked with the first Kentucky team and installed twelve raised beds in our garden area.  The ladies painted the soffit and the outside walls on our second casita.

The team was ministry driven and wanted to work with our After School children. They had a VBS program on Thursday and Friday. They also had a VBS program for the children of a local Christian church.

Since school starts back in February here in Honduras, the team wanted to give each child a backpack full of school supplies and a toy.

After the second day of VBS for our After School children, the team wanted to have a spa day for the girls.  They always really love to have their nails done.

The team also installed four pilas in poor communities and handed out eighty packs of beans and rice.

Both of these ministries had a great impact in our community.

The day after Daniel’s team returned to the US, we had a ministry couple from Los Angeles visit Promise Home for two days.  Jim and Ana Bice have a ministry called the Children’s Lighthouse of Faith. The ministry is focused on protecting newborn children from abandonment and to invite all children to receive the love of Christ.

For two days, Jim and Ana had a Good News Club’s program for our After School Children.

They are staying for a month in Honduras and will be ministering to children in the Ceiba area of Honduras.

Thanks to all of the team members that ministered to our children and the children here in Honduras.
