Promise Home has started the new year with an aggressive plan to finish our first casita for the children by the end of the summer.  At the end of January, we had our first team of the year.  The team was from Kentucky and Indiana and was led by Steve Drew. They completed the roof on our casita and painted the steel post for the new security fence.  This required a lot of hard work and a good pair of sun glasses.

The members of our church received a special blessing this month as the Family of Carlos Montano led a musical concert which included a puppet show. This was quite a treat for the families and especially the children of our village.

Our second team was lead by Jim Murphy from the Real Life Baptist Church in Illinois.  They worked on completing the block inside of the casita, finished painting the steel post for the security fence and installed the metal frame for the building’s soffit and fascia board.

They also built a pila water tank for Pedro’s family.  Pedro has worked with Promise Home for six years and was using a bucket to collect the drinking water for his family.  Now his family will be able to use the pila to wash dishes, clothes and to store water.

At the end of the day, our teams go to bed tired but feeling blessed.

Stay tuned for more updates.
